It's hard to be sympathetic about $400/year insurance where I live.
We really get dinged for insurance here in Ontario (Canada). I think they're trying to discourage motorcycle riding or something. A few years ago, you could fully insure a bike for about $350/year. I just got the renewal for my husband's 750 Honda ACE and his insurance is about $800/year with a clean driving record. My insurance on the Savage is going to be about the same.
Brutal.
